Later on I got some more plaster (this time plaster alabaster) and made another run. This time I used about 1 ½ kilos of plaster, much less water, and took more time to mix it. What do you know, second time is a charm.

I also bought some metal files a while back thinking I would use them to shape the plaster. With my ruined block I gave it a try. I was wrong. The plaster just builds up inside the file. Looks like plaster is something you cut rather than file.
